PURPOSE: A rolling operation side-guide control device is provided to prevent the damage of a side-guide by controlling so that side-guide is not operated in the state where the material is inserted into the rolling stand. CONSTITUTION: A rolling operation side-guide control device is composed of first and second side guides(10,20), first and second object detecting sensors(3,4), a rolling pressure detecting sensor(2), and a controller(30). The first and second side guides guide the material inserted from the front and rear of the rolling stand. The first and second object detecting sensors sense the material at the front and rear of the rolling stand. The rolling pressure detecting sensor measures the rolling pressure of the rolling stand. The controller controls the driving of the first and second side guides according to the sensed signal outputted by sensing the material in the first and second object detecting sensors. The controller emergency-stops the driving of the first and second side guides if the rolling pressure measured in the rolling pressure detecting sensor is more than the pre-set value.
