The door (2) has a front glass pane (4) and a cover (6) that is arranged on the glass pane, where the cover comprises a chamfer (14) formed adjacent to the glass pane. The chamfer is attached to the glass pane by bonding medium in a joint-less manner. The chamfer is formed by metal forming such as deep-drawing of steel plate. The thickness of the steel plate is approximately 0.5 millimeter. A control panel (7) is provided over the door and comprises a surface which is made of laterally polished high-grade steel. The cover is made of steel plate. An independent claim is also included for a household appliance comprising operating and/or display elements.
