<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable article carrier capable of preventing a cord for hanging a portable article such as a cellular phone or digital camera from hanging out of a case while the portable article is stored in the case. <P>SOLUTION: When the portable article K is lifted with one hand put to the lower part of the portable article K and with the other hand pressing a locking/unlocking button 14 to release the lock, a loop cord 6 is automatically taken up by a cord urging take-up device 1. When the portable article K is stored in the case 34, the locking/unlocking button 14 is released to return to the locked state, and a bottom open/close lid 23 is closed. Then, the lock of the locking/unlocking button 14 is released, and the portable article K is lowered to be received by the bottom open/close lid 23. When the bottom open/close lid 23 is opened and the lock of the locking/unlocking button 14 is released, the portable article K is naturally and swiftly lowered (nearly falls) mainly by its weight rather than by the urging take-up limit weight of the cord urging take-up device 1. The portable article K is received by hand and the locking/unlocking button is locked.
