The device has a light source e.g. LED (1a), for emitting light (20) in an infrared, visible or UV spectral range. A polarization filter (2a) reflects the light based on the polarization. The light source, the filter, an optical active unit (3a) and a reflection device (4a) are arranged in a common light path so that a part (20-3) of the reflected light impinges on the reflection device, is partially reflected to the filter and impinges on the active unit before impinges on the filter. The active unit formed as a coating is held in a plastic material of a plastic body. An independent claim is also included for a night vision system comprising an illumination device. |
