PURPOSE: A driving method for ferroelectric liquid crystal is provided to improve brightness e under the same driving condition although the resolution of the display increases. CONSTITUTION: One field is partitioned to a plurality of subfields. The weighting factor is given to each subfield. The subfield is partitioned to 'the sub block which is in inverse proportion to the weighting factor. The subfield is driven.
