The device has an ultrasonic microphone for detecting ultrasonic vibration, and an amplifier for amplifying an ultrasonic signal. The ultrasonic microphone is mounted on a pipe through which fluid flows. A plastic tube is arranged between two pieces of a metal pipe for detecting flow of the fluid, and is wrapped in a coil that is connected to an alternating current (AC) source. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting flow of fluid in a pipe and switching an electrical equipment.
