The safety device (22) includes a bending tool in the adjustable press beam (13), formed from a slat pack (34) including at least one reference slat (35) and at least one tool slat (33) which is adjustable relative to the reference slat. Recesses traversing them in the thickness direction form a beam passage for a light beam, in particular a laser light beam, extending parallel with the end face of the press beam when oriented in alignment.
