An adjustable regulator insert (1) for valves, in particular for controlling liquid flow in a plant for central hearing or air-conditioning, which insert (1) comprises an inflow opening (10) and an outflow opening (20). The area of at least one of said openings (10,20) is adjustable, said at least open opening being defined by an overlap between a first flow passage (16) in a first plate shaped element and a second flow passage (15) in a second plate shaped element. The first and second plate shaped elements are displaceable relative to each other, such that said first flow passage (16) and second flow passage (15) in the two plates are displaceable relative to each other in order to vary the area of said opening. The second plate shape element is displaceable in two different directions, such that the displacement in one direction can be adjusted independently of the displacement in the other direction.
