Carrier catalysts (I), useful in the preparation of cycloalkadiene by metathesis reaction, comprises a gamma -alumina as carrier material, rhenium oxide (1-12 wt.%), tin compound (II) or tin dioxide (0-40 wt.%) and at least one modifying agent of phosphorous, cesium or mineral acid.
