A surface drainage duct, e.g. for balconies and other level surfaces, has a U-shaped duct (18) fitted with a removable cover (20) with drainage slots (34) in the top surface. The cover has two downward facing flanges with vertical slots to locate blocks or captive nuts into which are threaded screw adjusters to adjust the level of the top cover with the surrounding ground. The vertical slots can also be located on angled sections of the side flanges.
