The method involves recording images of a workpiece (12) i.e. object, or a part of the workpiece. The images of the workpiece arranged in two positions (28, 30) relative to a sensor and/or a radiation source e.g. X-ray source (14), are recorded, where the positions are deviated from each other. Image criteria for measuring geometry of the workpiece are determined depending on the distance of the workpiece between the positions and the corresponding recorded images, where the positions lie in a plane, which runs parallel to another plane fixed by the sensor.
