PURPOSE: A recording/reproducing apparatus and a method for managing a broadcast content recording region are provided to assign a storage region that an information communication device connected through an external memory and network provides according to a function based on selection of a user. CONSTITUTION: A device interface unit(108) transmits and receives data with an external resource. A user interface unit(109) receives a region allocation value and a designation value about the storage region the external resource provides from a user. A controller(106) assigns a time shift region and a recording region to the storage region based on the region allocation value. When the designation value is effective, the controller additionally assigns the recording region to the time shift region additionally according to the designation value and recordable remaining capacity of the recording region.
