The method involves varying a pattern in both horizontal and vertical direction with a high spatial frequency, and projecting the pattern in both directions with high information content on an object surface (10). A structural image of the object surface is recorded by an image sensor (20). The object surface is recorded with a reference image by the image sensor, during illuminating the object surface with reference intensity. The object surface is set in proportional to a relative image in a pixelwise manner. An independent claim is also included for a device comprising a sensor arrangement.
