The device for the fastening of a support profile (6) on a metal roof with an outer skin of inter-engaging metal sheets (1) has longitudinal edge profiling (2) protruding over the surface of the sheet and to which is fastened by clamps the support profile which extends at right angles to it. The clamps (7) include interconnected jaws (8) which grip over the edge profiling from the top. The clamps on the edge side form open holding slots (11) for the support profile. The two clamping jaws on the ends turned away from the longitudinal edge profiling have protruding support stops (10).
