The system has a ball bearing return (19) for forming a closed circuit with a ball bearing raceway (18). The ball bearing return has a ball bearing return channel (20) in a wall of a ball bearing screw (11) whose ends are connected with the raceway over transition areas (21, 22). The screw has recesses (30, 31) for counteracting unbalance caused by the ball bearing return, where the recesses are arranged and dimensioned such that a principal axis of inertia of the screw coincides with an axis of rotation of a spindle section (9) of a steering rod (5).
