A heat generating device generates heat for heating a passenger compartment of the vehicle and includes a fuel cell that is connected with the battery and/or an electrical wiring system of the vehicle, where the heat generating device produces additional electrical current. An electronic system controls and regulates the heat generating device, which is operated using fuel from a fuel tank, where the fuel in the fuel tank is in form of liquid and/or gas.
