The commutator (1) has a set of lamellas (2) provided with a holding press mass (3) to form a ring, where each lamella exhibits a contact area (5) at an outer circumference surface for contacting brushes (6) and a contact area (7) for an armature winding (8). Each lamella is designed with a longitudinal profile at the contact area (5), such that the current density is constant in a cross section at an axial longitudinal section in the contact area (5) with the brush.
