The method involves supplying a cleaning liquid on the aerosol side of the membrane (3). The membrane is shifted in oscillating manner such that the cleaning liquid is delivered on the liquid side of the membrane through the openings of the membrane. The cleaning liquid is distilled water, ethanol, a solvent or a mixture or other cleaning liquids. An independent claim is also included for the device for cleaning of oscillation sensitive membrane of membrane aerosol generator of inhalation therapy unit.
