The invention concerns a method for radio link adaptation of a channel between a first network element (BS1-BS8) and a second network element (UE1-UE4) in a communication network (CN), whereby fluctuations of values indicating a quality of the channel measured at various points in time are determined, said fluctuations are used for the calculation of a corrected value indicating a quality of the channel, and said corrected value indicating a quality of the channel is used to choose at least one parameter defining the radio transmission over the channel, a network element and a communication network therefor.
