In apparatus for detecting a peak value of an electrical signal, the signal at 13 is passed via a diode 18 to one grid of a balanced cathode follower 10, 11 in which it is compared with a signal at 13 after delay by a capacitor 24. The cathode follower output is fed to a threshold switching circuit which operates shortly after a peak in the input signal. The circuit may be used to monitor the output of a transducer which determines variations in radius of a body. Because of the delay imposed by the components 22, 24, cathode follower 11 passes greater current than cathode follower 10 until a positive-going peak is reached in the input signal, when the polarity of the balance output changes so as to turn on (or off) siliconcontrolled switch 50 which energizes a relay 1CR which ejects the effective part. The operation may be repeated by closing pushbutton S-1 which energizes relays 3CR and 4CR which release the silicon-controlled switch 50 and discharge capacitor 24. The balance may be adjusted at 36 whilst the minimum detectable threshold is adjustable at 38.</p> |
