摘要 <p>1316416 Treating keratinous fibres CIBAGEIGY (UK) Ltd 19 Aug 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 43478/69 Heading D1P A process for modifying keratinous material, which comprises treating the material with a polythiol ester of formula wherein R represents a radical containing #3 C atoms (other than a radical of a polyhydric alcohol having #2 oxyalkylene chains attached thereto with the radicals in square brackets attached to the said oxyalkylene chains) R<SP>1</SP> represents an alkylene group containing #2 and #6 C atoms R<SP>2</SP> represents a hydrocarbon radical a, x and y individually represents 0 or 1 with the proviso that x#y. p is is an integer of #3 and #6 q is zero or #3 (p+q) is #6 and allowing the polythiol ester to cure on the material. The treatment provides shrink resist and durable press effects. The material, in general, should contain #30% by weight of keratinous fibres, which may be mixed with polyamides, polyesters poly(acrylonitrile) and with cellulosic material. The polythiols may be used alone or in conjunction with aminoplastics, polymeric and non-polymeric mercaptans, epoxy resins, acrylic resins and polyisocyanates. Particular useful polymeric polymercaptans are those esters and ethers having at least 2 mercaptan groups per molecule and which contain (a) a radical of a polyhydric alcohol (b) bound to this radical, at least 2 poly (oxyalkylene) chains (c) bound through oxygen atoms to carbon atoms in the said poly(oxyalklene) chains, at least 2 residues selected from an acyl residue of a thiol-containing aliphatic carboxylic acid or a residue, after removal of a OH group of a thiol containing. The said ester or ether having a molecular weight of #400 and #10,000. Other polymeric mercaptans which may be used with the polythiol esters include homopolymers or copolymers of butadiene or methyl butadiene having -SH groups directly attached to C atoms of the polymer, such as those containing structures of formula in which b and d are each positive integer such that the polymer has an average mol. wt. of #1000 and #10000 c is zero or the integer X = H or CH 3 and Y = -CN, -COOH, -CONH 2 , -COOZ, -C 6 H 5 , or -OCOZ where Z is an alkyl group of 1 to 8 C atoms. Preferably the polythiols are applied from organic solvents, especially chlorinated and/or fluorinated hydrocarbons containing #3 C atoms. Generally 0.5 to 15% by weight of the polythiol is used, based on the keratinous material treated. A catalyst may be used to cure the polythiol and 0.1 to 20% by weight of it is used, based on the weight of the polythiol. Examples of the catalyst are a base, a free radical catalyst, a siccative, an oxidative curing agent, sulphur, mercaptobenzothiazole or a derivative thereof, dithio carbamate, a thiuram sulphide, a thiourea, a disulphide, an alkyl xanthogen disulphide or an alkyl xanthate. Preferably the thiols are cured at a pH of 7.5 to 12 in a temp. range of 30 to 180‹C.</p>
