PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing a compound for skin whitening is provided to suppress melanogenesis and ensure skin whitening effect with high solubility and stability. CONSTITUTION: A composition for skin whitening contains 0.0001%~10% of compound of chemical formula I as an active ingredient. The composition further contains albutin, deoxyalbutin, conjugated linoleic acid, niacin amide, hydroquinone, kojic acid, glutathione, azelaic acid, and ascorbic acid. The composition further comprises UV protection agent. The UV protection agent is organic UV protection agent, inorganic protection agent or their mixture. The composition is used in the form of lotion, emulsion, cream, essence, cosmetic ointment, spray, gel, pack, sun screen, makeup base, foundation, powder, and makeup remover.
