The present invention concerns a data-receiving method for applications providing an IPTV communications service, involving: the acquisition, from an external source, of IP address data for starting an IPTV service provider search stage at a service provider search entry point; the reception of data about the IPTV service provider from a device for executing an IPTV service provider search entity function by using IP address data and using IPTV address data; and the acquisition of data about the application providing the IPTV communications service on the basis of data about the IPTV service provider. The present invention also concerns a device for this method.
