Regulated hybrid permanent magnet generator

A permanent magnet rotor (20) for an electrical generator has pole pieces with permanent magnets (26). A control coil (28) is associated with the pole pieces. A current flow through the coils is controlled to achieve a desired output voltage at an output for the generator.
