Liquefied gas storage tank - with sliding insulated inner lid partly suspended from outer lid

A storage tank for liquefied gas comprises rigid inner and outer tanks with an insulating layer between the side walls, and an insulated lid for the inner tank; this insulated lid consists of a support layer with top cladding and insulating layer; it rests slidably upon the upper edge of the inner tank and is also suspended from the central part of the rigid lid of the outer tank. Prefd. materials for the insulation include mineral wool, styropor, and perlite or combinations of these. The advantage of the arrangement is that only a small proportion of the weight of inner lid and insulation is suspended from the outer lid.
