The invention relates to a neuregulin protein product for the production of a medicament for the therapeutic or preventive treatment of a condition or disease associated with insulin resistance in mammals, including humans. According to the invention, neuregulin protein product acts as an insulin sensitiser and the condition or disease is selected from type 2 diabetes mellitus, a severe insulin resistance syndrome, a condition characterised by severe insulin resistance, obesity, glucose intolerance, dyslipidaemia and metabolic syndrome. |
