A smoking article which comprises an aerosol-generating part (11) and a filter part (12) attached to the aerosol-generating part (11). The filter part (12) contains a plural number of flavor-releasing particles (123) each containing a water-soluble matrix containing a flavor component. These flavor-releasing particles (123) have particle diameters ranging from 1 to 100 µm and the average particle diameter thereof is 20 µm or less.
