(A)Cpds. and their salts where R=H, acyl, aromatic, araliphatic, or aliphatic residue opt. substd. e.g. dialkylaminoalkyl - X=Halogen, or a nucleophilic group (e.g. opt. substd. amino, ether, thioether, acyl, CN, esterified carboxy, acyloxy) - and wherein the other ring atoms may carry OH, aliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic, COOH, carboxylic ester, acylamino, amino, alkylamino, acyloxy, ether, NO2, sulphonic groups or halogen atoms. - (B) Medicaments contng. (I). - Antiviral agents, 2-chloro-9-(3'-dimethylaminopropyl)-alpha-carboline is also a neuroleptic agent.
