<p>The barrel (10) has a gun barrel liner (1) and a breech ring (2) joined with each other by a bayonet thread such that a continuous cavity is formed between adjacent bayonet ridges of the gun barrel liner and bayonet ridges of the breech ring. The bayonet ridges of the breech ring are located axially behind or in front of the bayonet ridges of the liner. A locking segment (3) is inserted in one of the cavities between adjacent bayonet ridges so as to partially fill the cavity, where the locking segment completely fills the cavity.</p>
