The choke valve may include a generally tubular throttling member having a sealing shoulder disposed in an inner volume of the throttling member, a plurality of openings configured to flow a fluid between the inner volume of the throttling member and an outer volume of the throttling member, and a flow-impeding recess disposed between the sealing should and the plurality of openings in the inner volume of the throttling member.
