Class 141 In a flared skirt with radial pleats, a coloured line is provided along the extreme outer edge of each pleat. The skirt comprises two semi-annular panels 1 and is formed by attaching to each panel 1 a backing sheet 5 of paper &c. so that a margin 7 of the backing sheet extends beyond the double hem 3; the composite panel is then inserted between two cardboard sheets having radial creases. and the cardboard and enclosed panel and backing sheet are folded along the creases, and the the required pleats which are fixed by steam-heating etc.; the cardboard sheets are then removed and the pleated material is clamped between clamping bars 17; finally, paint or dye is brushed or sprayed on to the surface provided by the extreme outer edges of the clamped pleats and after the paint &c. has dried the backing sheet is removed. The Provisional Specification describes also a skirt wherein different colours are applied to the edges of respective groups of successive pleats. |
