An embryo-monitoring apparatus whereby it can be more easily and accurately determined whether an embryo is appropriate or inappropriate. In an image acquisition section (61), time-lapse monitor images of an embryo, which is set in a microscope as a specimen, captured with a camera are acquired. Then, these images are supplied to a monitor section (62). In the monitor section (62), egg cleavage is detected based on the monitor images thus acquired and the division of each of the cells in the embryo is traced. In a grading section (81), the time required for the division of the individual cells of the same generation in the embryo is determined at a predetermined timing based on the cleavage data supplied from the monitor section (62) and thus the grading value of the embryo is calculated. In an appropriate/inappropriate determining section (82), whether an embryo is appropriate or inappropriate is determined based on the grading thereof at a predetermined timing. This is applicable to, for example, an embryo-monitoring apparatus.
|
