<p>A cost effective method for joining exhaust gas pipes, e.g. for an IC engine, has the butting ends of the pipes inserted into an inner clamping sleeve with a meandering slit and an outer clamping sleeve (3) with a different slit pattern. The clamping sleeves are secured onto the join by two clamping brackets (4) with their radial tags tightened by threaded fasteners. The clamping brackets have lipped edges (8) which provide improved support by spreading the clamping force evenly.</p> |
