A cargo carrier trailer (10) for movably supporting cargo includes a frame (12) configured to support cargo at the cargo carrier trailer and at least two wheels (22) at each side of the frame (12). Each of the wheels (22) is rotatably mounted to a respective support arm (26). The support arms (26) are pivotally mounted to a carriage assembly (16) that is repositionable fore and aft along the frame (12) of the cargo carrier (10). The support arms (26) are pivotable relative to the carriage assembly (16) and frame (12) to adjust the height and tilt of the frame (12) relative to a support surface (34). The cargo carrier trailer (10) is readily adapted to position the frame (12) at a lower position for road applications and a raised position for uneven terrain applications. The cargo carrier trailer (10) is adapted to couple to a tow vehicle via a fifth wheel hitch (20).
