A system and method for providing message suppression and management in a monitoring system is provided including a monitoring module (103) including a message listener (105) configured for receiving messages from monitored modules (101,102), and a suppression module (107) configured for determining if an incoming message matches any existing message stored in the monitoring system and increasing a Suppression Interval (SI) exponentially for each same incoming message received at an Event Time which is within a time limit.
