The guard has a rigid shell (1) with semi cylindrical shape for being adapted to the shape of a wheel passage of a body of a motor vehicle. A soundproof material layer (6) covers an extrados surface (7) of the shell for being interposed between the shell and the body when the mud guard is mounted on the body. The shell has lateral maintaining ribs (9a-9d) provided along arched lateral edges (10, 12), where the maintaining ribs are radially projected from the extrados surface to laterally position the soundproof material layer.
