The engine has a cylinder head (10) fixed on a cylinder housing (20). An air intake splitter (14a) is connected to the housing, and an intake duct (15a) extends inside the housing from an inlet orifice (16a) connected to a compressor (32) of a turbocharger (30). The duct supplies charge air to the intake splitter, and the intake duct is connected to the splitter inside the cylinder head. The duct emerges outside of the cylinder head by an outlet orifice connected to an intake of a charge air cooler.
