IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wrinkling from occurring in sheet material in a fixing unit without using a roller of a reversed crown shape.

SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is provided with: a transfer section for transferring a toner image to the sheet material; a fixing section for fixing the toner image to the sheet material which passed the transfer section; and a guide section for guiding the sheet material to the transfer section. The length of a transporting path from the guide section to the fixing section is set to be shorter than the length in the transporting direction of the sheet material. The guide section is provided with higher resistance in a central section of the sheet material in the width direction which is orthogonal to the transporting direction of the sheet material than in both end sections of the sheet material up to immediately before the sheet material is finished in passing.
