PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material capable of manufacturing a rigid molded article having high mechanical strengths, heat-resistance and a liquid and vapor barrier property, being more excellent in a low water-absorption property, chemical-resistance and hydrolysis-resistance as compared with a conventional nylon-6-based composite material, having a wider moldable temperature range than a polyamide resin-based composite material using a 1,9-nonanediamine simple substance as a diamine component, being excellent in melt moldability and capable of further attainings high molecular weight. SOLUTION: The composite material contains the polyamide resin and a layered silicate dispersed in the polyamide resin. A dicarboxylic acid component of the polyamide resin comprises oxalic acid, a diamine component comprises 1,9-nonanediamine and 2-methyl-1,8-octanediamine, and a molar ratio of 1,9-nonanediamine and 2-methyl-1,8-octanediamine is 1:99-99:1.
