<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve proper driving support even when it is difficult to view a traffic sign in rainy weather or at night. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When it is not possible to recognize the image of a sign photographed by a camera 18, a CPU 14 retrieves a database 15 by using GPS data as a key, and acquires information showing the type of the traffic sign of an intersection or the making of road surface corresponding to the GPS data, and determines whether or not the speed of a vehicle and the decelerating operation of a driver are suitable for the sign or marking of the front intersection, and issues, when it is decided that a driving operation is not suitable, a warning for calling a driver's attention.
