<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure printing machine which need not install a tension detector for every printing unit and can diminish the magnitude of misregister in printing to a web, to almost nil, as well as a method of controlling this machine. <P>SOLUTION: This gravure printing machine is equipped with a first stage printing unit 10a for printing the web W initially and second stage printing units 10b and 10c arranged downstream from the first stage printing unit 10a. In addition, a control device 30 estimates the tension of the web W between the printing units 10a, 10b and 10c from the magnitude of misregister, the tension of the web W detected by a tension detector 18a of the first stage printing unit 10a and the manipulated variable of each motor 13b and 13c of the second stage printing units 10b and 10c. Further, the control device 30 calculates the manipulated variable of each motor 13b and 13c from the magnitude of misregister and the estimated tension of the web W. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
