<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of transverse electric field type which reduces the occurrence of color shifts to a minimum in all gradations including an intermediate gradation, while making desired color coordination, and is manufactured by using conventional manufacturing processes. <P>SOLUTION: The thicknesses t1, t2 and t3 of a red layer 5a, green layer 5b and blue layer 5c in auxiliary pixels 30a, 30b and 30c, which constitute a unit pixel 30, are different from each other to make desired color coordination. Electrode intervals L1, L2 and L3, and cell gaps d1, d2 and d3 are each set so that the ratio (L1/d1) of the electrode interval L1 to the cell gap d1, the ratio (L2/d2) of the electrode interval L2 to the cell gap d2 and the ratio (L3/d3) of the electrode interval L3 to the cell gap d3 may be all equal, and thereby the gradation characteristics in the auxiliary pixels 30a, 30b and 30c are the same, wherein the electrode intervals L1, L2 and L3, and the cell gaps d1, d2 and d3 which correspond to the L1, L2 and L3, respectively, are each for the auxiliary pixel 30a for red color, the auxiliary pixel 30b for green color and the auxiliary pixel 30c for blue color, respectively. By this, the occurrence of color shifts is minimized in all the gradations including the intermediate gradation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
