PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembling method of a head gimbal assembly capable of stably floating a head during operation, an assembling device, the head gimbal assembly, and to provide an information recording and playback apparatus. SOLUTION: The head gimbal assembly 12 includes a bar-shaped rotational member, formed turnably around a pivot axis; a slider 2 attached to a tip part of the rotational member so as to face the surface of a magnetic recording medium and supported so as to be freely turnable around two axes orthogonal to each other and parallel to the surface of the magnetic recording medium and an optical waveguide 32 for introducing light for heating the magnetic recording medium to the slider. The assembling method of the head gimbal assembly includes a step of attaching the slider to the rotational member; a step of connecting the optical waveguide to the slider; a step of applying force to the rotational member so that the rotational member has a shape, substantially equivalent to the attitude on floating of the head gimbal assembly and a step of supporting the optical waveguide to the rotational member, in such a state with the force being applied to the rotational member.
