<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of display irregularity in a liquid crystal display panel using PSA (polymer sustained alignment) technology. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display panel is disclosed, which includes steps of: preparing microcapsules 30 each having a shell wall 34 formed of a thermoplastic resin composition and encapsulating a photopolymerizable compound 32 being a raw material of a photopolymerized material; forming a dispersion state of the microcapsules 30 in a liquid crystal material between a pair of substrates 10 and 20; preparing a mixture of the photopolymerizable compound and the liquid crystal material by dissolving the shell wall 34 of the microcapsule in the liquid crystal material; and forming alignment sustaining layers 52a and 52b that regulate a pretilt direction of liquid crystal molecules 42 in the liquid crystal layer by irradiating the photopolymerizable compound 32 with light while a prescribed voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer 40.
