<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently consume drive energy when performing inertia supercharging by an intake air control valve. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an engine system 10 configured to perform impulse charge by control over driving of an impulse valve with driving for opening/closing the impulse valve 224, an ECU 100 performs basic control. In the control, the ECU 100 calculates an accelerator opening variation DTa as an index value defining the degree of an impulse charge demand, and also determines impulse charge execution time Tip from a control map stored in an ROM in advance, based on the calculated accelerator opening variation DTa.
