<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plaster-based building material improved in in-plane sharing rigidity (in-plane strength) as a surface material for bearing wall without generation of harmful volatile substances while maintaining excellent performances of conventional plaster-based building materials such as fire protecting and fire resisting properties, workability, dimensional stability, economic efficiency, and habitability, particularly, a plaster-based building material for interior with raised surface hardness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The plaster-based building material C suitable for bearing wall includes a core material 1 having a sheet-like shape, the core material being mainly composed of plaster and formed by mixing glass fibers 2' and starch to the plaster.
