<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a rotatable range when mechanically restricting the rotation of a gantry supporting a radiation irradiation apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This radiotherapy apparatus is provided with a fixed stopper 51 joined to the gantry 14 and a changeover stopper 53 joined to an O ring 12 rotatably supporting the gantry 14. The changeover stopper 53 is adapted to transfer to a second state when the gantry 14 is rotated in a first state with a gantry normal rotation direction ultimate angle set inverse to the gantry normal rotation direction 58, transfer to the first state when the gantry 14 is rotated in the second state with the gantry normal rotation direction ultimate angle set in the gantry normal rotation direction 58, and collide with the fixed stopper 51 when the gantry rotates in the first state with the gantry normal rotation direction ultimate angle set in the gantry normal rotation direction 58. That is to say, even when the gantry 14 is rotated inversely to the gantry normal rotation direction 58 once or more, the changeover stopper 53 and the fixed stopper 51 do not restrict the rotation.
