PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture sample-observing device having heightened visibility of a target sample. SOLUTION: A heater 61 heats a lid of a culture vessel 3 so that the surface temperature of the lid may be nearly equal to the temperature of the environment in which the sample is cultured in the culture vessel 3. An illumination part 12 illuminates the sample in the culture vessel 3 of which the inside of the lid is prevented from dew-formation and clouding by the heating by the heater 61. An image-taking part 13 takes the image of the sample illuminated by the illuminating part 12. A personal computer 51 calculates the occupancy of the sample in the culture vessel 3 based on the image of the sample taken by the image-taking part 13.
