<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly arrange an internal combustion engine from which waste heat is to be recovered and a waste heat recovery engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This waste heat recovery system 10 is provided with: the internal combustion engine 20 from which the waste heat is to be recovered; and a Stirling engine 100 as the waste heat recovery engine. The positions of a high temperature cylinder 101 and a low temperature cylinder 102 in the direction parallel to the waste heat recovery engine rotating shaft Zs of the Stirling engine 100 do not overlap the position of an internal combustion engine cylinder 22 in the direction parallel to the waste heat recovery engine rotating shaft Zs.
