<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction muffler for a CO<SB>2</SB>compressor with reduced number of parts, while promoting efficient assembly work. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The suction muffler 10 for a CO<SB>2</SB>compressor comprises: a hollow casing 11 having symmetrical shapes with respect to one plane 10s; a first pipe 13 attached to an outer peripheral surface of the casing 11; and a second pipe 15 attached to an outer peripheral surface on a side opposite to the first pipe 13 with respect to the one plane 10s. The first pipe 13 and the second pipe 15 have the same shape. A relative position of the first pipe 13 with respect to a section part 11c as a section cut along one plane 10s of the casing 11 and a relative position of the second pipe 15 with respect to the section part 11c are the same.
